We all have things about certain places that must stay the same or it just isn’t “right”. My Grandma’s bedroom always had to be purple. The Paddlewheel Restaurant had to have the tacky fake Paddlewheel Boat. Often these items are landmarks or meeting places. When people met up at Eaton’s they’d say, “I’ll meet you at the Timothy Eaton Statue”. No one cared what “renos” were done to the rest of the place but these items had to stay the same. If the place got mowed down…that was the thing people wanted to save and/or move. For me and the Museum of Man and Nature it is the Buffalo Hunt display.I was always amazed (and still feel that way, actually) at the details. It is so life-like that you don’t notice where the painting ends and the stuffed animals and waxed figures begin. I can just imagine these coming to life in “A Night at the Museum”. It makes me happy!
