Diamond Cabinet Card

I only have one of these in my collection.  They are not as rare as hen’s teeth but not an everyday thing either.

Isn’t that an interesting shape for the card?  Our lady has a light colored bodice with a ton of ruching and ruffles and the sleeves appear to be the big mutton sleeves of the 1890’s.  This family is from my home town, Winnipeg.

SAM_1504According to the Manitoba Historical Society F. W. Farkin was a photographer in Winnipeg from 1890-1908 (after 1908 he named his studio Rembrandt Studio.)  Her hair is very 1880’s so perhaps this is from the earlier 90’s.
